I particularly specialise in Anxiety, Weight Loss, Anger Management, Grief, and Phobias. Each and every one of these areas I have a real affection for. As well as hypnotherapy, I am trained in many other therapies too. If needed, I sometimes find for some, that an amalgamation can help achieve their end goal more effectively.

I am always striving to offer the best service to my clients. With health and wellness being a passion of mine. Every year I enjoy bettering myself by increasing my knowledge, by keeping my training up to date and learning new methods of healing along the way. As well as being a fully qualified member of the General Hypnotherapy council, I also am a fully qualified member of the National Hypnotherapy Society, adhering to both of their rules, and keeping up with supervision and ongoing CPD.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy involving hypnosis that focuses a client’s imagination and subconscious to help bring about positive changes to their thoughts, feelings, or behaviour. A hypnotherapist will use relaxation techniques to help you reach a state where the conscious part of your mind is relaxed and your subconscious part is more open to suggestions. They will then use suggestive techniques (where they ‘talk’ to your subconscious) to help encourage the change you are looking for. The word “hypnosis” comes from the Greek word ‘Hypnos’, which simply means, ‘sleep’. Hypnotherapy has been used since the 1700s, however, it is only in recent years that scientific research has been done. The University of Harvard has found that hypnosis works on the control and processing part of the brain.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by getting you into a relaxed state where positive suggestions are made in whichever orient you wish to overcome. In hypnosis, the Conscious mind is bypassed and the subconscious is worked with, this is where all those automatic habits happen without are say so or where events are stored that our brain thought was useful in some way, and at some point, they may well have been, however, they may not continue to aid us in the current day.

Believe it or not, we are frequently in trance states throughout our day, most people who drive will have driven somewhere but not be fully aware of how they got to their destination. Perhaps you were so engrossed in a film or a book that you did not realise the time that had passed. These are both trance-like states.

Will I lose control?

You’ll be pleased to know that the answer is absolutely NO! My goal is for you to become relaxed while I make positive suggestions that bypass the conscious part of the mind, and go through to the subconscious part. I like to reassure clients at any point of this process they could get up and walk out. You won’t take on any suggestions that you feel aren’t relevant to you, and you won’t tell me your innermost darkest secrets! Please be reassured that clinical hypnotherapy is nothing like stage hypnotherapy, so you definitely won’t leave quacking like a duck. Phew!!

How many hypnotherapy session will I need?

It is very dependent on the client, but as a rough guide, most phobias are solved in 3-4 sessions.

Working with issues like weight loss, anxiety, anger issues, etc I find that normally between 4-6 sessions.

This is very much dependent on whatever you as the client are having issues with, for some, they may come with more than one issue so can take longer to unpick, however the above is generally what I find successful at reaching most people’s end goal.

Can you guarantee results?

Unfortunately, no, as with any therapy nothing works the same for every single person, hence why there are an array of therapies out there. This is why therapists tend to offer different treatments, so if one specific treatment doesn’t fit with you, another more suitable treatment can be offered instead. I also offer EMDR, NLP, MBCT, Mindfulness, and Meditation

How much does the hypnotherapy cost?

Each session cost £65 per session, I offer a block booking of 3 sessions at a discounted rate of £180, and Smoking Cessation is £140.

Book an appointment here.

How long does each session last for?

Generally, each session lasts roughly an hour, this can vary from person to person, no additional charge is made if your time goes over, please allow yourself a little more time on your first visit to allow time to discuss your end goal and to fill in any paperwork.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Every person’s experience of hypnosis is different. Some say afterwards that it felt like daydreaming, others feel like they are just so relaxed, some become heavy, and some just feel like they are sat there comfortably listening to whatever I say. I find that often most people have different experiences each session, some comment on feeling deeper in one session and lighter in another, neither is better than the other, but progress is still made.

The state of hypnosis is in fact one of heightened awareness where your mind is aware of many more things than is possible in the conscious state. Many people say how relaxed they felt during and after a session and this feeling can often continue long after the session is over.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

The answer is Yes! Anyone can be hypnotised because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, therefore as long as you want to be hypnotised I can guide you into that state. Remember as long as you can relax in which I can guide you into a relaxed state, you can become hypnotised.

Is there anyone who should not have hypnotherapy?

Actually yes, if you have psychosis, epilepsy, schizophrenia or certain types of personality disorders, hypnotherapy could make your condition worse. Always check with your GP first if you’ve got a personality disorder to see if they think hypnotherapy could help or hinder. Also if you’re coming with pain-related issues I will always ask first for you to seek advice from your GP, so that you aren’t covering up a more server issue.

Is hypnotherapy safe for children?

Hypnotherapy for children and young people is considered both effective and safe. Children tend to respond very well to hypnosis as they are naturally quite imaginative and use their subconscious minds a great deal more than adults do. Hypnotherapy can help to address a number of issues commonly experienced in childhood, including exam stress, sleep problems, bed-wetting, phobias, and low self-esteem. I tend to work with a lot of teenagers, I have my DBS certificate if you would like my certificate number please get in touch.

Can I get hypnotherapy through my health insurance?

Yes! Some private health insurances offer a fund for holistic therapies. If you are using your private health insurance, please let me know and I’ll issue you a receipt so you can claim back your expenses.

Do you offer past life regression and is it for those who just like “woo woo”?

I do offer past life regression. Some like to do it just for a bit of fun, however, I do believe there is a place for it in modern-day therapy. Whether people are regressed back to a previous time, or the brain has simply conjured up an event in order for an emotion to be worked through and processed in order for you to function in your current daily life in a way that is balanced and harmonious, I’ll leave that decision to you.

As a rule, I will generally never offer past life regression unless a client requests it, so if this therapy is not for you, don’t worry it will never be pressed upon you.

What happens if I don’t wake up!

Some worry they won’t wake up, but rest assured this just won’t happen! But if you were left in an induced trance, you would either fall asleep and when ready wake up naturally or just decide to open your eyes and end the trance yourself.

I can assure you that I haven’t had anyone that hasn’t woken up, panic over.
